Marco Pasqua

Marco Pasqua is a Graduate student from the Art Institute of Vancouver (Burnaby Campus) with a Diploma in Video Game Design. Aside from Video Games, Marco is a very active participant in his own community and province in regards to advocacy for persons with a disability, he too can relate, having been born with Cerebral Palsy. Being part of the ALA youth exchange for over 4 years now, Marco hopes to spread leadership and advocacy not only across his whole province, but as well, all of Canada.

As for now, Marco works at home doing freelance contractual jobs for 3D development companies, more recently “Kadtec Systems”, where he is the head of Project Development as well as a Designer. Here, he focuses on Emergency Response demos using floor plans in a game engine, which seems to work hand in hand with his post secondary education.

Jennifer Newman

Jennifer Newman has a life long passion for volunteering and promoting the importance of community involvement and enhancement. She has volunteered in Ottawa for the local Folk Festival and for various local non-profit organizations such as Line 1000. In Belleville, Jennifer volunteers yearly for the Quinte Regional Children’s Foundation’s Guardian Angel Gala and has assisted with the Random Acts of Kindness Campaign.

She graduated from the Social Service Worker Program at Loyalist College in spring 2005 and is currently working at the Canadian Association of Independent Living Centres where she had started as a student in September 2004. At CAILC, Jennifer has worked with the national staff on the annual United Nations International Day of Disabled Persons event, the Youth Outreach Initiative in summer 2005, and is currently CAILC’s National Director’s Executive Assistant.

With a strong commitment to grass roots driven organizations, the arts, and especially music, Jennifer likes to take on new creative initiatives. This is her first year working with Active Living Alliance, and she is very excited about the Activate Yourself, Activate Your Community – The Not Really a Conference Conference.

 Isabelle Giard

Isabelle Giard has a high school diploma. She is currently a Cegep student at Cegep@distance, in order to work in a few years as a translator. Aside from education, Isabelle is an active person despite her disability, the Spina-Bifida. As a matter of fact, she has been participating in the Canadian Association for Disabled Skiing Program for several years.

She has been participating in the ALA youth exchange for 3 years and is looking forward to being a part of the ‘Activate Yourself, Activate Your Community’, The Not Really a Conference Conference. These past years with the ALA had brought her a lot. She is now more involved in her community and wishes to continue spreading leadership and advocacy around her.
